The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX 100 V.20.1 MP Digital Still Camera w/3” OLED is sony’s latest addition to its  popular lineup of 1″ enthusiast compacts.  The Mark V has two major additions, the on-sensor phase detection AF, and a burst rate of 24 fps with full-time focusing.

The AF system takes the same 25-pt contrast-detect system and adds 315 PDAF points covering 65% of the frame. It continues to offer a 20.1MP 1″-type stacked CMOS sensor, 24-70mm F1.8-2.8 lens, pop-up EVF and built-in Wi-Fi w/NFC.  It’s the World’s fastest continuous shooting speed1 at 24fps3 w/ AF/AE tracking and is the world’s  most – 315 phase detection – AF points on a compact camera.  Has a 4-star rating.

Canon Powershot SX60

Canon Powershot SX60 16.IMP Digital camera.  The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is an all-around excellent bridge camera with a competitive zoom range, has features that make it easy to use.   The downside is that the SX60 can be slow to lock focus when fully zoomed in under certain conditions.  Switching between the viewfinder and display can frustrating and there’s no proximity sensor to automatically trigger the change.  Some users likely won’t be impressed with its photos, especially indoors or in low-light.

Some of its features include:  a 4-megapixel resolution bump to 16 megapixels, and its 1/2.3-inch backside-illuminated CMOS sensor is paired with a newer Digic 6 image processor for better low-light results and improved performance.  Photos can be captured in JPEG, raw or JPEG plus raw.  Its Video capabilities have been improved.  It can capture at up to 1080p at 60 frames per second and you can shoot in automatic or manually control exposure.  Has a 4.5 star rating.

The Canon Powershot ELPH 180 (silver) is among some of Canon’s inexpensive 20MP PowerShot ELPHs. It has an ultra compact body, maximum resolution of 5152 X 3864, ISO is auto 100-1600, Focal length (equiv.) 28-224mm, screen size is 2.7”, Maximum shutter speed is 1/2000 sec., Format is MPEG-4, H.264. This camera has a 3.5 star rating

Ricoh Theta S Digital Camera (Black)

The Ricoh Theta S Digital Camera (Black) uses two ultra wide-angle lenses to capture a fully spherical image.   The camera has twin f2.0 lenses with folded optics.  It can also record spherical video with stereo sound in full HD at 30 frames per second for up to 25 minutes.  Shoots 360-degree video at full frame rate. Can easily be uploaded to Facebook and is relatively easy uploaded to YouTube.   The price is reasonable.  However this camera only has 8GB of memory, a smartphone app is essential for some of its functions.

Nikon Coolpix S7000 16 MP Digital Camera

The Nikon Coolpix S7000 16 MP Digital Camera is ultra compact, has a 4608 x 3456 maximum resolution, 16 megapixels, Sensor type is CMOS, Focal length (equiv.) is 25-500 mm, screen size is 3”, allows for easy framing of any subject, has 18 scene modes.  It has a 4-star rating.

Olympus TG-4 16 (Red)

Olympus TG-4 16 mp waterproof Digital Camera With 3-inch LCD (Red).  This camera is considered one of Olympus’ tough cameras.  Some users have been impressed by its relatively fast lens (at wide angle) and good photo quality, GPS and compass, and limited manual control.  It lives up to its reputation of toughness for taking a beating.  It’s known to be able to take a fall from 2.1m/7ft, it’s waterproofed to 15/50ft, crushproof to 100kgf/2201bf, is freezeproof to – 10C/+14F, and is dust proof. Its features include 3″ LCD w/460k dots, 16MP BSI-CMOS sensor, Wi-Fi w/smartphone app, and 1080/30p video.  It has a 4-star rating.

Sony DSC-RX 100M III Cyber-shot Digital Camera

The lens on the RX100 III is considerably faster than its predecessors. Sony was able to create a much faster lens with only a small increase in camera size. A major improvement on this camera is full sensor readout, which allows for higher resolution video than your typical compact (or interchangeable lens) camera. The camera’s hybrid viewfinder has been resigned Probably the biggest single change to the camera is the redesigned hybrid viewfinder. This improvement to the X100T’s finder gains a 2.3m dot LCD panel but also adds a darkened ‘tab’ that can pop up in the optical finder, to allow projected information to be clearly seen in all lighting conditions.
